Keynote Address
The Global Energy Future

Waterpower XVI opens by exploring the global trends most likely to shape our energy future:
Resources: What—and where—are the world's primary energy resources and how is this changing?
Markets: What forces shape worldwide energy markets and what trends are currently emerging?
Politics: Which political situations and drivers are especially applicable to energy resource exploitation? What lies on the horizon?

This far-reaching discussion provides a framework for the entire conference and helps situate hydro—and its potential—in the context of anticipated demographic and energy usage developments.
