Spokane is the largest city in the Inland Northwest. Its name, which comes from the name of the Native American tribe that originally inhabited the region, means “Children of the Sun.”

This half-day tour will immerse participants in the rich history of this beautiful urban center. Highlights include a look at Gonzaga University, as well as visits to gorgeously restored mansions and breathtaking cathedrals. Guests will also be able to view the Bowl and Pitcher geological formations in Riverside Park, the amazing downtown waterfalls, and have the chance to stroll the six formal gardens at Manito Gardens before ending the afternoon with a relaxing tea at the E.J. Roberts Historical Mansion.

Includes transportation and light refreshment mid-afternoon.

The Silver Valley

Wednesday, July 29, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Registration: US$85

In the 1970s, this historic mining region produced half of the nation’s silver. Today, Silver Valley is host to visitors from all over the world who want to experience its rich heritage and colorful past.

Participants on this full-day tour will take a spectacular gondola ride to the top of Silver Mountain, where they’ll enjoy breathtaking mountain views. They’ll also visit the Cataldo Mission—the oldest building in Idaho—and learn how the missionaries and Coeur d’Alene Indians constructed it. Enjoy lunch at the authentically restored Jameson Hotel.

Final stop is the Bordello Museum in Wallace. A tastefully done tour highlights the bawdy, rugged lifestyles of working girls in a 19th century mining community.

Includes transportation and lunch.

Winery and Clark Mansion Tour

Thursday, July 30, 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Registration: US$75

Overlooking the shores of Hayden Lake, the F. Lewis Clark Mansion (Honeysuckle Lodge) rests majestically on a 12-acre estate, a reminder of a glorious past complete with princes, presidents, power, wealth, and mystery.

This beautiful north Idaho mansion has been featured several times in magazines such as Country Living and Sunset. Waterpower guests receive a special tour that reveals the splendor of handpainted murals, stunning lake views, and elegant décor. A gourmet lunch will be served in the mansion’s dining room.

Those who join this tour will also visit two local wineries, Arbor Crest Wine Cellars and Latah Creek Winery. Washington’s award-winning wines rival those of Napa Valley and Europe thanks to a climate particularly well suited for vineyards—the city shares the same latitude as France. Cheers!
